The construction of upper confidence bounds on the range of several location parameters following a sequential range test

WEI LIU

Department of Mathematics, University of Southampton Southampton SO17 1BJ, U.K.

This paper considers the construction of an upper confidence bound on the range of a set of p (≥2) location parameters following a sequential range test. Although details are given only for the one-way analysis of variance model with known variance, generalisation to other situations is pointed out. This upper confidence bound is useful in assessing the equivalence of all the location parameters. An illustrative example is given.

Key Words: Confidence intervals • Power function • Sequential test
