AMENDMENTS AND CORRECTIONS

Nathan Mantel has noted that the paper incorrectly states that the Ederer-Myers-Mantel test (Biometrics (1964), 20, 626–638) requires towns of equal population size. In fact, by conditioning on the total number of leukaemias per town (per five-year period) Ederer et al. avoid dealing with population size. Instead their test requires only that town sizes do not change from year to year within a five-year period. we apologize to these authors for misrepresenting their results.
