Testing for interaction in multiply-matched case-control studies
Mathematical Statistics and Applied Mathematics Section, Biostatistics Branch, National Cancer Institute Bethesda, Maryland 20205, U.S.A
The test for homogeneity of the relative risk in multiply-matched case-control studies of Ejigou & McHugh (1984) is shown to be simply derived and understood in terms of the traditional theory of Pearsonian chi-squared tests (Cramer, 1946, Ch. 30). For the doubly-matched case it is equivalent to the usual chi-squared test that an odds ratio in a 2x2 table with fixed marginal totals equals four.
