Correction and Amendments

‘A fixed subset-size approach to the selection problem’

The expression (5·3) for QL, (8, t) and the inequality (5·4) are incorrect. Equation (5·3) is to be replaced by


where {lambda} = nd */{sigma}. The inequality (5·6) is to be replaced by


where I(x; a, b) is the Incomplete Beta Function.

A table, similar to Table 1, needed to find the required 8 value is available from M. M. Desu
