Nonparametric tests for block experiments

F. DOWNTON

Department of Mathematical Statistics, University of Birmingham

A method is described for constructing nonparametric tests for experiments arranged in blocks when the underlying distributions are of Lehmann's form. In simple eases the resulting test statistics are those that would be obtained by an analysis of variance following a trans formation of the data into exponential scores.

Key Words: Balanced incomplete blocks • Exponential scores • Multisample test • Randomized blocks • Rank tests
