A note on Rao's reduction of Potthoff & Roy's generalized linear model
Department of Educational Psychology, University of British Columbia Vancouver
The relationship between Potthoff & Roy's generalized linear model and Rao's conditional model is shown. Rao claimed that his method is more efficient since it utilizes the information provided in the form of concomitant variables, whereas this information is ignored in Potthoff & Roy's method except in a special case. It is proved that the two methods of estimation are identical when Potthoff & Roy's matrix G is replaced by the residual matrix from the data being analyzed.
