Experimental designs with unequal concurrences for estimating direct and remote effects of treatments
National Vegetable Research Station Wellesbourne
It is sometimes necessary to estimate not only the direct effects of treatments on the experimental units to which they are applied but also their remote effects on other units in the same block. Equal concurrences of all treatments are not always needed, especially if some are controls which may be on a different basis from the experimental treatments. Methods of analysis are described, involving the combination of information between and within blocks, for trials in which controls do not concur with each other at all. The appropriate experimental designs are easily constructed, and a few examples are given.
