Follow-up studies often record a large number of factors that are suspected of being related to the occurrence of an event. How many of them can one hope tresearch-articleo discover as being statistically significantly associated with this event? The number of such associations depends on the degree of risk they impart, the sample size used, the number of factors considered and their distribution in the population under study. An analysis is given when all factors are dichotomous.
