A Monte Carlo comparison of some ratio estimators
Department of Health and Social Security London
Six ratio estimators are compared by a Monte Carlo technique: the classical ratio estimator, the Hartley-Ross estimator, Mickey's, Quenouille's, Beale's and Tin's estimators. Two models are used, in each of which the conditional variance of y given x depends upon x. The latter model is studied in both the stratified and the unstratified cases.
