An experimental design criterion for precise estimation of a subset of the parameters in a nonlinear model

M. J. BOX

Imperial Chemical Industries Limited Pangbourne, Berks

An experimental design criterion for obtaining precise estimates of a subset of the parameters of a nonlinear model is extended to cover a multiresponse model and a nonconstant variance-covariance matrix. The criterion presented also applies when precise estimates of all of the parameters are required and the variance-covariance matrix is nonconstant.

Key Words: Nonlinear estimation of subset of parameters • Design for estimation of subset of parameters • Design for multiresponse nonlinear models • Experimental design under nonconstant variance • Model discrimination via significance testing
