Species frequency distributions
P. HOLGATE
Birkbeck College, University of London
The model of the distribution of species abundance in a population, which leads to the logarithmic series distribution for the representation of a random species in a sample, is investigated. Some comparisons are made between this and an alternative model in which species abundances have a log normal instead of a Pearson Type III distribution.
