Distributions associated with cell populations

M. S. BARTLETT

University of Oxford

The theoretical equations relating the numbers of cells at various stages of development and division in the mitotic cycle are noted, an use to derive the statioary age and phase distributions. Further sections refer to the effect of synchronization, an to fluctuations. Examples of compound distributions are also discussed, particularly in relation to observed distributions of grain counts for cells incorporating ‘labelled’ thymidine.
