CORRIGENDA

‘Moments of sample moments of censored samples from a normal population.‘

J. G. SAW

I regret that a number of mistakes have occurred in Table 4, giving values of Ht(pr, a, b), in the above paper.

On using this table for further work, it became apparent that errors must exist when prwas 0.70, 0.75 and 0.80. On checking it was found that, for example, in the computation of (d2)t (equation (4.5)) an error had occurred for pr = 0.70; t = 2. Since (d3)t, (cd2)t, (d4)t, (cd3)t and (c2d2) were obtained using (d2)t, this led to an unfortunately large number of mistakes in the pr = 0.70 group of Table 4. The errors for pr = 0.75 and pr = 0.80 were similar but since they occurred higher up the a + b scale, the resulting ‘triangular’ spreading of errors was less.

Considerable checking has been made in the tables and it is hoped that no serious errors remain.
