BINOMIAL SAMPLING SCHEMES AND THE CONCEPT OF INFORMATION
D. V. LINDLEY
Statistical Laboratory, University of Cambridge
Methods of sampling a binomial population in order to obtain a prescribed accuracy in the determination of the unknown proportion are discussed. The concept of information due to Shannon is used, and the relationship between it and the corresponding concept of Fisher's is investigated and used to explain certain features of the sampling schemes.
